The Union health ministry launched a Rs 150-crore scheme last month to promote menstrual health among rural adolescent girls. Self-help groups making low-cost sanitary napkins are ready to supply them to rural India. Now with the government scheme, these groups hope to expand their reach. But the government might also rope in private players.
